Selectmen's Minutes
March 3, 2008
Present: Steve Moscicki, Jim Trudell, Elaine Sherry, Donna Clark, Celine Presby
6:00 pm Chairman Moscicki called the meeting to order.
Manifests & Invoices:
The manifest for Mar 3rd was authorized and new invoices for future payment were reviewed and initialed.
Treasurer's Report:
- The Treasurer's Report was read showing a balance of $63,412.37 in the checking account, $110,873.49 in the NHDIP fund, $46,205.26 in the Laconia Bank savings account and $307.99 in the Dodge Pond Dam Preservation fund.
- Presby presented a donation of $250 to the Town from the donations received at the Dodge Pond Day event. This money will be put in the general fund and used towards this year's dam loan payment.
- Presby will confirm 2008 payoff figures for the grader loan and highway garage loan to be presented at Town Meeting.
Committee Reports & Needs:
The Board signed a wage offer for Cindy Schieman for the part time position of Deputy Town Clerk/Tax Collector.
Permits and Applications:
The following was approved:
- Pistol Permit for Elaine Sherry
Meeting Minutes:
Minutes for Feb 25th were reviewed. Trudell motioned to approve the minutes as written, 2nd by Moscicki, so voted all.
Correspondence:
- Legislative Bulletin #11 and the Feb 2008 Emergency Management News were distributed to the Board.
- An e-mail was received from Lori Higgins thanking the Town for being so supportive of Art Wessels and his family during his illness and after, and for dedicating this year's annual report in his memory.
Old Business:
- The Selectmen agreed that an Under the Mountain Rd resident does not require an Intent to Cut for the small amount of wood taken from his property.
- The Board will respond next week to information received from an attorney regarding an ongoing access issue.
- Sherry attended a Dept of Transportation hearing in Lisbon to request that a flashing yellow light be installed at the intersection of Lyman Road and Route 302 as part of the upcoming repair work to be done on Salmon Hole bridge. State Rep Stephanie Eaton also raised the issue with the Lancaster and Concord DOT offices today. Both were told the request would be taken under advisement.
- Trudell reported that Dodge Pond Penguin Plunge Day was a great success. Over 150 people attended and enjoyed hot food and beverages, dog sled rides, visiting with friends and neighbors, and watching several young men take part in the penguin plunge. Another event will be planned for the summer. Thanks to all who attended.
New Business:
- 2007 Annual Reports are now available at the Town Offices and in the Town Hall vestibule.
- The Selectmen will set up the hall for Town Meeting at 5:30 pm next Monday.
Trudell motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm, 2nd by Moscicki, so voted all.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Mar 10th, at 6:00 pm.
The Annual Town Meeting will be held Tuesday, March 11th, at 7:00 pm. Polling hours are from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm to choose all necessary Town Officers.
